For those people complaining about the batteries not lasting, they probably have not taken care of the batteries. They last well and have held up well so far (over a year).Only downside is the long charge time (20 hours) but you just have to be vigilant and be sure to unplug the charger. Charge only when completely drained, charge for the recommended time and you will have no issues. I was able to get this for less than $5 shipped and it has been amazing. I use the four batteries for my Wii remotes and they hold a decent charge.
After that the charger was thrown away. They were too hot to touch when I unplugged the charger. There's no automatic shutoff. The batteries can be dramatically overcharged and may well explode.
It is inexpensive to buy but a piece of garbage that doesn't work and you have to watch. I would not waste your money. This is one of those "you get what you pay for" items. This is absolutely worthless. Honestly, I wouldn't even give this a one star rating. I watch it like a hawk and leave it plugged in when I am home and unplug it when I leave for work. It takes forever (at least a week) to charge batteries and you have to watch so it doesn't overheat. I've done that for about 2 weeks trying to charge the batteries and I still haven't gotten the "green lights".
You will have to remind yourself to remove from the receptacle within 24 hours or the batteries and unit will become hot. It does not shut off automatically. Feel I got my monies worth. Found this item to be of adequate quality for the money. One drawback.
I did not encounter any problems with the charger as others did. Batteries charged ok and work with no problem.I bought it for the batteries (great price for AA's) inspite of some negative review for the charger.
